Randy Couture In Negotiations With The UFC, Possible Fight With Brock Lesnar At UFC 91 August 30, 2008 05:08:58
Rumored by many sources, but confirmed by the Wrestling Observer, is that former UFC heavyweight champion Randy “The Natural” Couture is in negotiations with the UFC to possibly return and fight Brock Lesnar at UFC 91 in Portland, OR.
Dave Meltzer confirms the news:
A source close to Randy Couture has confirmed today that Couture is in negotiations with UFC for a new three-fight deal which would end the nearly nine month legal battle between the two sides.
If the deal is closed, and the source said they are hoping to conclude negotiations and announce the match sometime within the next week, Couture would face Brock Lesnar on 11/15, most likely in Portland, Oregon.
Couture was said to be hoping that if everything went well, the next two fights could involve Fedor, Nogueira, and/or Chuck Liddell. However, all previous hangups involving Emelianenko and UFC remain.
UFC 91 is set to take place in Oregon, Couture’s former home state. Couture lived in Oregon as he trained for the Olympics as an alternate on the US Greco-Roman wrestling team. After his wrestling career ended he served as a strength and conditioning coach at Organ State University before establishing the legendary MMA “Team Quest” with partners Dan Henderson and Matt Lindland.

Brock Lesnar vs. Cheick Kongo in the works:
source inside Kongo’s management team has informed MMARated.com that UFC officials have offered Kongo a fight against Brock Lesnar for either November or December.
If the UFC wants me to fight Lesnar, I’ll do it for sure….He showed confidence in his standup striking and completely dominated Heath Herring….. I try to never underestimate any of my opponents but there’s really nothing that worries me too much with Brock Lesnar. I know it could be a tough fight, but, you know, I train hard and I will be ready for this one too. I am hungry.

EliteXC News: Antonio “Big Foot” Silva Test Positive For Steroids August 21, 2008 18:27:09
The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has announced that EliteXC heavyweight champion Antonio “Big Foot” Silva has tested positive for the anabolic steroid Boldenone following his win over Justin Eilers at “EliteXC Unfinished Business“.
Silva, an American Top Team fighter will must serve a 12 month suspension and pay a $2500 fine in order to obtain a fighting license.
Bad news for EliteXC who will have to decide whether to strip Silva of the heavyweight title or just wait around one year for him to defend the title. With EliteXC’s weak heavyweight division, it is a hard to speculate what they will do, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kimbo wearing the belt someday soon.
Wikipedia:
The activity of boldenone is mainly anabolic, with a low androgenic potency. It has a very long half-life, and can show up on a steroid test for up to 1.5 years, due to the long undecylenate ester attached to the parent steroid….The drug is commonly used in doping within bodybuilding, even though this use is illegal. If intended to assist in bodybuilding, the drug is taken as part of a steroid stack of other anabolic steroids, usually with a potent androgen like testosterone as the ‘base’ of the stack.
