Thomas Gerbasi, UFC - 19 seconds. Thats all it took for Roger Huerta to hand John Halverson his first UFC loss back in February of 2007, and while losing to the rising lightweight star is something that was experienced by 21 other mixed martial artists, the UFC 67 bout seemed almost too frantic, too fast to get a read on Halverson as a fighter on this level, and more than anyone, he knew it. - [Read more]

Luigi Fioravanti: From Iraq to the Octagon February 22, 2008 14:22:00
Armando Alvarez, UFC - For most fighters, entering the UFC Octagon to face a fierce opponent is the hardest thing theyll have to do in their lives. Within a few seconds they face their adversarys full arsenal: punches, kicks, elbows, throws, arm bars, knee locks, triangle chokes, guillotine chokes, and so on. It sounds pretty bad, and tough to most, unless youre welterweight Luigi Fioravanti. You see, when instead of punches and kicks and elbows, you have bullets and bombs coming at you, the sport of mixed martial arts becomes a very tranquil walk in the park. - [Read more]

Being Jon Malko-Fitch February 19, 2008 08:01:00
Rhett Butler, UFC - A question for the masses: If you could peek into the mind of someone you have observed accomplish feats in the Octagon with ease, would you? Pushing the peeping tom stigma aside, most true mixed martial arts fans would jump at the opportunity to play voyeur to the mental machinery of todays top MMA athletes, much like the highly touted movie, Being John Malkovich, where for the price of $200 people entered a portal and were given 15 minutes of admission into the mind of a deep-thinking actor whose life experiences greatly eclipsed their own in substance and excitement. - [Read more]
